Tech Talk: New Chrome feature that will leave you speechless 2023

The new Chrome feature, is realy amazing!, let’s talk about that in this article.

Google Chrome now allows you to copy an image from a video to your clipboard: Mountain View’s giant announced it in the early hours through a post on its official blog. makes life considerably easier for anyone who wants to capture a specific moment from a lesson, movie, or documentary from a video played in Chrome, even though it seems to currently only work with YouTube and Google Photos.

A Brief History of Google Chrome, The new Chrome feature.

Google Chrome, developed by Google Inc., made its debut on September 2, 2008. It arrived at a time when the browser market was dominated by Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. What set Chrome apart from its competitors was its emphasis on speed, simplicity, and security.

One of its defining features was the V8 JavaScript engine, which significantly boosted web page loading times. The minimalist design of Chrome’s user interface, with a clean and uncluttered layout, also appealed to users looking for a streamlined browsing experience.

Over the years, Google continued to refine Chrome, releasing frequent updates that introduced new features, improved performance, and addressed security concerns. Chrome’s rapid development cycle ensured that it remained at the forefront of browser technology, but before we talk about The new Chrome feature.

new Chrome feature: Feature-Packed and User-Friendly

One of Chrome’s key strengths lies in its extensive feature set, tailored to meet the diverse needs of its user base.

1. Speed and Performance: Chrome’s speed remains a benchmark in the industry. It uses a multi-process architecture that separates each tab into a separate process, preventing one misbehaving website from crashing the entire browser. This also enhances security.

2. Extensions of new Chrome feature: Chrome’s extension ecosystem is vast, offering a wide array of add-ons and extensions that enhance functionality. Whether it’s ad-blockers, password managers, or productivity tools, there’s an extension for almost every need.

3. Synchronization: Chrome offers seamless synchronization across devices. Your bookmarks, history, and preferences can be accessed from any device with Chrome, making it convenient for users on the go.

4. Incognito Mode: Google Chrome’s Incognito mode enables private browsing, preventing your browsing history and cookies from being saved. It’s a handy feature for those who value their privacy.

5. Built-in Security: Google takes security seriously, and Chrome reflects this commitment. It comes with automatic updates, a built-in malware and phishing protection, and sandboxing to isolate websites from the rest of your system.

new Chrome feature: The Impact of Google Chrome

Since its inception, Google Chrome has had a profound impact on the way we browse the web and the broader internet landscape.

1. Browser Market Dominance: Google Chrome quickly rose to dominance in the web browser market. As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, it commanded over 65% of the global browser market share. Its success prompted other browsers to improve their performance and security to stay competitive.

2. Shaping Web Standards: Chrome’s influence extends to web standards. The browser’s rapid adoption of new technologies has often pushed web developers to prioritize compatibility with Chrome. This, in turn, has shaped the way websites and web apps are developed.

3. Developer Tools: Google Chrome’s developer tools are widely acclaimed. They provide developers with a powerful set of debugging and inspection tools that have contributed to the growth of web development.

4. Progressive Web Apps (PWAs): Chrome has played a pivotal role in popularizing Progressive Web Apps, which offer a native app-like experience within the browser. PWAs are now supported by a growing number of platforms and browsers.

new Chrome feature: Why Google Chrome Remains Popular

new Chrome feature continued popularity can be attributed to several factors:

1. Speed and Performance: Chrome’s speed remains unmatched, ensuring that users can browse the web with minimal lag or delay.

2. Integration with Google Services: For users in the Google ecosystem, Chrome offers seamless integration with Gmail, Google Drive, and other Google services. This integration simplifies tasks such as email management and document collaboration.

3. Extensive Extension Library: The Chrome Web Store hosts a vast library of extensions, allowing users to tailor their browsing experience to their specific needs.

4. Cross-Platform Compatibility: Chrome is available on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS, making it accessible to a wide range of users.

5. Security and Privacy: Google’s robust security measures and frequent updates help users feel confident about their online safety.

After this explanation, we can go back to The new Chrome feature.

Not that resorting to the classic methods to copy an image from a video is particularly complex. On Windows and macOS, you can simply take a screenshot using one of the many built-in methods (in Windows 11, Win+Shift+S is probably the ideal choice, which allows you to draw an area, similar to the Command+Shift+4 combination in macOS), or you can use extensions that include this functionality. However, it is not easy to obtain high-quality images. On the contrary, the new built-in feature in Chrome allows you to capture the image at the native resolution of the video and, at first glance, without a loss in color quality; it also automatically removes the overlapping player controls.

new Chrome feature: RIght click

To use the feature, simply right-click (twice) on the paused video and select the option “Copy Video Frame.” Of course, it would have been nice to have an option to save the image in addition to copying it to the clipboard, which then requires pasting it somewhere to work with it, but we hope this feature will be introduced in the future.

In the meantime, we enjoy this new convenience, which, as reported in the article written by Yana Yushkina, Product Manager for Search in Chrome, has been available since yesterday and is already available in the stable version of the Google browser (below is a screenshot of our field test of the function) and in all competing software based on the same Chromium source code (including Microsoft’s Edge browser).

The new Chrome feature Conclusion.

As mentioned earlier, it seems to only work with YouTube and Google Photos videos, which are both based on the same YouTube player. It is indeed absent in TikTok and Vimeo, as we have confirmed, and it is not clearly accessible in the case of video platforms that do not allow the right-click contextual menu, such as JW Player or Instagram.
